Dehradun: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has taken action against illegal construction activities in the city by sealing four under-construction buildings in the Kulhan and Chandrabani areas. Officials said the buildings were being developed without obtaining the necessary approvals and sanctioned building plans.
According to MDDA officials, the authority received multiple complaints regarding the ongoing construction work. Following inspections at the sites, officials found that the projects were allegedly being carried out in violation of approved building regulations and development rules.
In the Kulhan area, MDDA sealed an apartment project where two multi-storey buildings were reportedly being connected and converted into residential flats without proper permission from the authority. Officials stated that the project was allegedly being developed by Chirag Talwar. To prevent further construction work, both structures were sealed by the department.
In another operation, MDDA sealed two duplex buildings located in the Dwarikapuri area on Chandrabani Road. According to officials, these buildings were reportedly being constructed by Subhash Chaudhary without complying with the required approvals and building norms.
MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that unauthorized constructions negatively affect planned urban development and increase pressure on public infrastructure such as roads, parking facilities, water supply systems, and sewer networks.
He warned that the authority will continue to take strict action, including sealing and demolition, against those found violating building regulations. Tiwari also appealed to residents and developers to obtain all mandatory approvals before starting any construction work.
The MDDA reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe, planned, and sustainable development in Dehradun while maintaining compliance with established building laws and regulations.
